FirGen

PDF Print E-mail
With firgen you can design Digital FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters for the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) starter kits from Texas Instruments and Analog Devices.
The program calculates the impulse and frequency response for a requested frequency curve and window function. The result is plotted and can be saved in source code for the TI or AD assembler.

Version history

version 2.0: converted to Visual Basic

    -

added EZ-Kit Lite support

    -

added demo commands
version 1.0 : initial release for Macintosh Chipmunc Basic

Usage

Usage is quite simple, first choose 'New filter...' from the File menu. Then enter the filter type, number of taps, window function and frequencies. Some filters work only with an uneven number of taps.
Firgen 'Quick and dirty' increases the number of taps with 1 if you enter an even number. After pressing OK the impulse response (filter taps) and frequency response will be calculated and plotted.
Now from the File menu the impulse response can be saved in TI-DSK or AD EZ-Kit Lite format. The source code for the filters are in the AD and TI directory. With the TI and AD assembler you can make your filter.
